Believing the Worst

For the longest time, news about recession has been hitting the whole world and this somehow makes most of us alarmed. Everyday news about mass lay offs and companies shutting down only worsens it...Read on this email I got from a friend...

"Whenever the media states, 'We are in a recession,' people lose confidence, quit buying, and more people are thrown out of work. As a result the cycle widens, and soon there really is a recession," wrote Ken Gaub in his best-selling book Dreams, Plans, Goals (New Leaf Press, 1993).

Larry King, on the "Larry King Live" show, asked former president Richard Nixon, "What is a recession?"

Nixon answered, "A recession is any time people lose confidence in the future and think there are no answers."

Don't let brainwashing by the negative news media rob you of the positive that God can help you do.

"The LORD watches over you [us] -- the LORD is your [our] shade at your [our] right hand; the sun will not harm you [us] by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you [us] from all harm -- He will watch over your [our] life; the LORD will watch over your [our] coming and going both now and forevermore" (Psalm 121:5-8).

"Trust in the LORD with all your [our] heart and lean not on your [our] understanding; in all your [our] ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your [our] paths straight.... Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked, for the LORD will be your [our] foot from being snared" (Proverbs 3:5-6, 25-26).

I Hate....

The other day, I went to a caregiver school in Taft. I was quite familiar with the place, but got confused with the street where I was supposed to be in, so I was literally walking through a wrong way...Midway through it, I knew I made the wrong turn, and realized that I should be in the next street, but just to be sure I tried to seek assistance from the owner of the canteen that I passed by. Apparently, she was talking to some Indian guy, so I waited for them to finish their conversation before I asked...I tried to be as nice as possible and the conversation went like this..

Me: Tanong ko lang po, saan po dito yung Nakpil St. [May I please ask, where Nakpil St,. is?]
Lady: [busy texting] Dyan, sa Nakpil..Dyan lang... [It's there...Nakpil, is just right there]... and she was not even looking at me while she was answering my question...And she did not even point to me where I should be making my turn or what not... Was on the verge of arguing, but somehow cool heads prevailed...I realized there's no point in arguing and seeing that she was not too ready to help, I slowly walked away from that canteen..and I was glad I have found my way to the school, where I was supposed to be...

Got several mesages from friends whom I don't see as much...I was glad to again have a connection with them after quite some time...With the advances in technology, email and chat is easily available but because of busy schedules sometimes chatting and emailing is also set aside. I came across this test that is supposed to identify what one person's friendship style is...Here goes the results for me...

Your Friendship Style is Empathetic

You deeply care about each person you're friends with. For you, friendship is all about the personal connection.

You tend to know everything about your friends' lives... and they know everything about yours. Your friends are your confidants.

You are always there for your friends. You celebrate their successes and support them in their times of need.

You are as loyal as they come. And you expect the same loyalty and understanding from your friends in return.

You and another Empathetic Friend: Have a amazing friendship, when it works. You care for each other deeply, but you often end up with hurt feelings and drama.

You and a Gregarious Friend: May have a bit of a one sided friendship. You adore your Social Friend, but you sometimes feel a bit neglected.

You and an Independent Friend: Struggle a bit. You are very interested in your Independent Friend's life, but your friend often needs more space.

You and a Philosophical Friend: Respect one another. You love to learn about your Philosophical Friend's brilliant ideas.

Somehow, I agree to this...

My Blogs

I am glad I am able to update the blogs that I am currently hosting on three different platforms..But I am seriously thinking about deleting my blog-randomthoughts.i.ph on dotph as I am not too happy with it..Writing a post there is ok, but posting pictures is a different story..It takes forever, uploading pictures and comes out in thumbnail sizes even if you opted for a bigger size..Must be on the settings, but if uploading pictures takes that long, I just don't have that much patience...The most personal blog I have is the one I have kept the longest - Rollercoaster Ride. It's in wordpress and there I keep all my rants, rave and whatever comes to mind including the sponsored posts that have already made me earn a few bucks...And then this one on blogspot is relatively new but am happy because I am able to add links and whatever on my sidebar with no fuss...hahaha..So what exactly is my point? Oh well, just wanna invite you to check on my blogs when you can and drop me some comments , so I know you were there....Happy Writing, bloggers =D

Moving Out or Not?

It seems like everytime there's a discussion about us moving out of the house that we have been staying for the past 7 yrs. here in Manila, I get bothered...I start to feel uneasy and a lot of questions would come up...This house was owned by my Aunt's family since late 1980's but sold it sometime in 2002..It was a blessing that the new owner had it rented and we've been renting it since then..I like the fact that we are given the freedom , with regard to running things around the house..The owner is just too busy to still bother us with his house rules..But we are still cautious though, since he lives just across our place...lol. Plus the fact that we never had an increase on the rent considering the location and accessibility of the place- picture this I just have to cross the street to get to a mall called SM Centerpoint, just a few steps from the LRT 2 station, and there's practically a ride wherever I want to go...How cool is that? Lately though, with all the prices going up, we've been contemplating on looking for a studio type place, enough for my two sis and me, but nothing's final yet. We still are not able to find a place that would be as quiet and secure as this one. And after 7 years, we definitely feel this is home away from home...Ey, I'll worry about moving out some other time...

McDonalds Commercial {Philippines}

The new commercial of McDonalds gets through my heart. And it's the words at the end of the commercial, right before they flashed the McDonalds logo that really got me.....sigh.....

Narration:

At kahit hindi rin naging kami sa huli, sya pa rin ang first love ko {even if we did not end up together, she would always be my first love}

BFF's McDo Moment

The morning of December 31, despite the not so wonderful weather, there were signs of dark clouds everywhere, I met up with my best friend Chi. It was the first time in probably 3 years, that we saw each other again..Sure we update each other through text messages but nothing beats the conversations over fries and other knick knacks...She brought along her eldest, who is my godchild, and after I handed the boy my christmas gift, Chi and I started our never ending how are you's and chitchats...Just like the good old days....And funny, we seem to not notice the time, before we knew it, it was way past lunch time, and we had to send Chi's son to play some arcade games while we continue to laugh about our stories and reminisce about our college days. Nothing has really changed after all these years and I made sure I had my camera with me so we could take some pictures..The last picture we had together was in some 10 years ago, both of us in our rocker fashion, Chi in a Kurt Cobain hairstyle, both of us making the peace sign...Now, we still are rock fans but sports a more "girlie" fashion..lol..I posted here one shot of us together, never mind how it looked, it was intentionally captured this way, quite a clear view of my Best Friend For life, the already empty mcdonalds drinks and fries and a peeping me...lol..

Lunch at Oniv's...

[Time really fly so fast, my six day vacation is over but I couldn't complain more, I just made the best of it...lol....A few days before Christmas however, I got a text message from my cousin Oniv, who leaves just a few blocks away from me, inviting me to come to their house because they have a party. Much as I wanted to, I had to decline because I had some shopping to do and was not somewhere near his place...hahaha.... While I was on vacation, he sent me a text inviting me to come over for dinner at his place, and he further told me that he also invited my two other cousins...I had to reply informing him that I am in the province for the New Years, and he understood]...So finally, after a series of coordination, with my other cousin, we were set to go to Oniv's. So I asked him if they were home and told him we were gonna go to his place...Thank heaven's he replied, Ok....lol....Arriving at Oniv's was a riot! His kids and my other cousin's kid's instantly bonded, played around, got really loud while we-the not so young spent the rest of the day, laughing at stories of long ago, watching dvd's over carbonara and other delicacies that Oniv prepared himself....What a party host! We spent the whole afternoon at Oniv's and went home late...We were too carried away by our stories and must have forgotten that it was already getting dark, had not my nephew started bothering my cousin that they should be going home....I'm looking forward to the next get together....Guess, the holiday's not over yet....
